Description

FATS DOMINO LP - STOMPIN' - RHYTHM & BLUES - EARLY ROCK & ROLL - SUNSET #SUS-1158 - ELECTRONICALLY RECHANNELED STEREO. Fats Domino sold more records than any other artist of the 1950s, other than Elvis. His first single, "The Fat Man" in 1949 is one of the dozens of tracks that have been consistently singled out as a candidate for the first Rock & Roll record. The record made #2 on the R&B charts and sold a million copies. Between 1955 and 1963, he racked up an astonishing 35 Top 40 Singles. His 1956 "Blueberry Hill" was probably his best-remembered single. "Walking To New Orleans" - "Whole Lotta Lovin" - "I'm Walking" - "Blue Monday" and "I'm In Love Again" were also huge successes. One of the pioneers of Rock & Roll music, he sold more than 65 million records. He was inducted into the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame in 2016. He received the Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Ray Charles Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. His song "The Fat Man" entered the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015. Fats Domino was present in the audience of 2,200 people at Elvis Presley's first concert at the Las Vegas Hilton on July 31, 1969. At a press conference after the show, when a journalist referred to Elvis as "The King", he gestured toward Fats Domino, who was taking in the scene. "No" Elvis said, "That's the real king of rock and roll." Fats Domino was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at the 1st Annual Induction Ceremony in 1986. The Record is in VG+ condition with light surface scratches, on Side 2, none of which affects the play. The Cover is in NM- condition, with slight wear on the corners (see pictures). The artwork is bright and clear. I try to be conservative in my grading and I try to grade honestly. See pictures of labels for contents of records. Buyer pays shipping. Items are shipped Monday through Friday, except on holidays. Items are shipped the day following the holiday. See Record Grading System below. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I use the Goldmine Records Grading System for grading LPs and 45 RPMs. All methods currently in use for the grading of LPs and 45 RPMs are based in some way on this system. NM Near Mint – A nearly perfect record. It probably has been played, but shows no signs of obvious wear. The LP Cover has no creases, folds, split seams, or other noticeable defects. Cut-outs on such records will be noted. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve has no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. VG+ Very Good Plus -Shows some signs that it has been played but handled with care. Surfaces may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that doesn't effect the playing. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are okay. The Label may have some ring wear or discoloration. Picture Sleeves and LP inner sleeves may have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP Cover may have slight signs of wear also and may have a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.
